  1. During migration, when waterfowl are nearby, please remain in your car to avoid disturbing them.
  2. Observation blinds are at: Funk WPA, Massie WPA, and the Verona Complex (see RWBJV Wetland Driving Tour map).
  3. Prairie dog towns are at Hultine WPA, Moger WPA, and Prairie Dog WPA.
  4. Sites on the RWBJV Wetland Driving Tour include Waterfowl Production Areas (WPAs), managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and State Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. WPAs and WMAs are open to public use. Privately-owned wetlands are not open to the public. Regulations for use of the Ducks Unlimited Verona Complex are posted on the property.
  5. When birding from your vehicle, please use parking areas, or pull off to the side of the road.
  6. Many roads in the Rainwater Basin region are unpaved; when wet they are often muddy and surprisingly slippery. When in doubt, take a different road.
  7. If whooping cranes are present, observe from a distance of at least ¼ mile. Please report whooping crane sightings to Whooper Watch: 888-399-2824.
